Oh, Cottage Life: a dream of many, a dream of mine!!!

Tuesday Jul 05th, 2016

I know some of you are going to call me nuts but I will spill the beans and tell the web audience what only my closest people know. I dream about a retirement!!! Yes, there is actually someone out there in her mid-30s who is dreaming about the retirement. I think my eventful life is actually a main culprit: I as so many of my generation have lived through so many interesting times, that I have enough stories to tell for a Russian novel size autobiography.

However, I don’t dream just about any retirement. My dream retirement is to live somewhere in a blissful place surrounded by nature in a cozy cottage. Inside of my cottage I will surround myself with all those books on my ‘to read’ list, great musical albums and the collection of movies.

Outside I need to have lots of water and trees and flowers and bushes and birds and yes, animals. I think the small island somewhere in the Thousand Islands or Georgian Bay or somewhere else will be nice…

You know what? The funny thing is that I’m not alone. According to the survey done in 2015 by “Angus Reid,” Canada’s online market research community 45 per cent of Toronto’s millennials (birth years ranging from the early 1980s to around 2000) are looking outside the Greater Toronto Area because of the high cost of ownership.

Another survey by TD Canada Trust found that 25 per cent of millennials plan to eventually buy a vacation property which is a staggering number if you compare it to 13 per cent of the rest of the population. In the U.S., the National Association of Realtors (NAR), found the average age of cottage buyers now is 43 today versus 61 in 2003, and more millennials are buying a vacation property as an investment opportunity.

So I told you my dream and if your dream is similar to mine even if for a couple of days, let’s use this page together to find that perfect place for you and I and others like-minded people out there.
